Dealer Description
The Corvette ZR1 was introduced at the Geneva Auto Show in 1989 and was a joint project of GM and Group Lotus which GM had recently acquired, and the goal was to make the world's fastest production cars. Lotus developed an aluminum block V8 with 4 cams, 32 valves, a unique air management system and along with other ZR1 specific modifications, a supercar was born. For consignment, a 1995 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 with a title verified 60,410 actual miles. Less than 40 ZR1 wore Polo Green Metallic and this example was built on April 7, 1995 and is number 394 of 448 produced that year. This Vette comes with both a solid and glass targa top. With the exception of a few details, it's relatively standard fare on the inside with dramatic black and beige door panels opening up to beige leather buckets with the Corvette emblem stamped into the headrest and the distinctive, offset stitching crossing the upper and lower parts of the seat. We note some wear on the ingress portion of the driver's seat but otherwise both present cleanly. A full power locking switch is just under that, and not found on mere mortal Vettes, allowing drivers to toggle horsepower output from 250 to 405 and can be set depending on who you want driving the car and how you want them driving it. The bay presents in clean condition. Clean conditions are found underneath and the dual exhaust system, which begins at headers, travels down a central tunnel, splits near the back and then enters stainless steel mufflers that give way to two exhaust tips on each side. Four wheel power disc brakes are on board and suspension reigns supreme with a combination of forged aluminum control links, transverse monoleaf springs, stabilizer bars, and independent five link in the rear. Wide hips are visible in the side mirrors making you really feel the width over that standard Corvette. The V8 comes to life with a healthy growl and we hit the test loop not to confirm performance; that's a given. We're here to check functionality and this 31 year old legend passes the test as everything on the inside and out works as it should. We note the tire pressure light is but are informed there are no sensors in the rear tires. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Just 448 ZR1's were produced in 1995 making this a rare relative wolf in sheep's clothing and an astounding driving machine that flies under the radar, but it's now on your radar, so inquire within, as they say.
