Walking up to the Tahoe LT, it immediately feels like a serious SUV. Not just in size, but in intent. There's a sense that this vehicle is built for big tasks hauling people, gear, towing but doing so with enough modern comfort that it doesn't feel like a brute. LT models typically come with the 5.3liter V8, making about 355 horsepower and 383 lbfeet of torque. Paired with a 10speed automatic, the powertrain gives you enough urgency for merges or towing, though it still consumes fuel in a hurry when you make it work. With fourwheel drive, the EPA numbers are roughly 15 mpg city / 20 mpg highway. If you want better fuel economy, say for lighter daily use, there are diesel or more efficient options in the Tahoe family but in the LT trim this V8 is the norm. The ride is surprisingly composed considering the size. On highways it's quietish, with enough insulation that long drives are tolerable. But the Tahoe is still a large vehicle, and you feel that mass: in tight turns, backing up, or maneuvering in city zones, it takes effort and caution.
