New 2025 Mazda CX-50 Preferred

Mazda's handsome and fun-to-drive CX-50 is already one of our favorite compact SUVs, and this 2025 CX-50 Hybrid is a welcome addition to the family. The CX-50 Hybrid borrows its 219-hp electrified powertrain from the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, and it comes standard with all-wheel drive and a 38-mpg combined fuel economy rating. Ride and handling aren't much different from the nonhybrid model, and that's fine by us. The CX-50's near-ideal blend of comfort and athleticism landed it near the top of our most recent compact crossover comparison test. Also unchanged from the nonhybrid model is a class-above cabin stuffed with amenities, a trait that is quickly becoming one of Mazda's signature features. The CX-50 Hybrid gives Mazda a foothold in the quickly expanding compact hybrid SUV category, which includes rivals such as the Honda CR-V Hybrid, the Kia Sportage Hybrid, and the Mitsubishi Outlander Hybrid. As one of our favorites in its segment, the Mazda CX-50 hybrid has also earned a spot on our Editors' Choice list for 2025.
