The Subaru Ascent is powered by a 2.4L turbocharged flat 4-cylinder "boxer" engine that makes 260 horsepower, sending power to all four wheels via an 8-speed CVT variable ratio transmission. The resulting powertrain cuts a good balance between acceleration and fuel economy, while allowing the Ascent to tow up to 5,000 lbs. Subaru estimates that the base level Ascent will get around 26 mpg on the highway. Six different trim levels are offered for the Ascent including Premium, Onyx Edition, Limited, Bronze Edition, Touring and Onyx Edition Touring. Standard features include 3-zone climate control, a 11.6-inch multimedia touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capabilities, six USB ports, automatic door locks and mirrors, 18-inch wheels and 19 cup and bottle holders. Subaru's EyeSight Safety Assist system is also standard, which includes emergency braking, and lane keep assist systems.
