New 2026 Toyota 4Runner SR5

The Legacy Continues. I’ve owned a 4Runner since the late 90’s and this one continues the ethos of the body on frame SUV in a modern package. After putting just over 13,000 miles on my 2025 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road Premium with the 2.4L turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid, I can confidently say this is the most well-rounded and refined 4Runner Toyota has ever built. The hybrid powertrain completely transforms the driving experience, delivering immediate torque that makes city driving, highway merging, and passing effortless while still feeling smooth and composed rather than overly aggressive. The transition between electric and gas power is seamless, and the added efficiency is noticeable without sacrificing the rugged, body-on-frame character that defines the 4Runner. On the road, it feels more planted and comfortable than previous generations, with improved ride quality and reduced noise, yet it never loses its solid, overbuilt feel. Off-road, the TRD Off-Road Premium trim remains extremely capable, with crawl control, multi-terrain select, and a locking rear differential working especially well with the hybrid’s low-end torque to provide excellent control in rough or uneven terrain. The interior strikes a smart balance between modern technology and durability, with intuitive controls, reliable infotainment, and comfortable SofTex seating that holds up well to daily use. After thousands of miles, the truck still feels tight, well-assembled, and confidence-inspiring, with no rattles or issues to note. It’s not a luxury SUV or a performance vehicle, but it doesn’t try to be. This vehicle is a dependable, capable, and thoughtfully modernized 4Runner that feels built for long-term ownership, and one I would absolutely choose again. Feel great driving it!
