Used 1992 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

Throughout the Corvette's storied history Chevrolet has produced a plethora of special edition Corvettes but many of them were little more than stripe and decal kits. But, for Corvette aficionados, "Z" "R"- "1" has always represented the pinnacle of Chevrolet performance. This particular 1992 ZR-1 (#437 of only 502 crafted), is fast, quiet, classy, and didn't need to be plastered with stickers or huge badges to make its point. Developed jointly with Lotus and Mercury, the Marine-built 375 horsepower LT5 V8 engine nicknamed "King of the Hill", is "The most exotic inspired engine ever assembled into a Corvette by Chevrolet during the early 90's". The result is a 32-valve, 16-injector, 4-cam powerhouse that utilizes a trick dual-path induction system to create even more All-American torque (370lb-ft). The power plant, on fire-up, defaults to 8 fuel injectors with 8 more injectors, for a total of 16 live injectors, activated with the flip of the Power Key (which lies forward of the German-engineered ZF 6-speed manual gearbox's shift lever). Traction is enhanced with a tuned FX3 double A-arm front and independent rear suspension which features switchable electronic traction control (ASR), driver-adjustable active ride control: tour, sport, and performance to keep all that power both productive and manageable. Torque meets the pavement through a set of killer super wide 315/35/17 Goodyear's at the rear that are contained with special ZR-1 factory-sculpted and installed rear quarter panels that gracefully start at the leading edge of the doors and actually make the rear bumper cover 5.5 inches wider than the standard model. A copy of the car's original window sticker displays the MSRP base price of a standard 1992 Corvette as $33,635, and the ZR-1 performance options was another $32,328 for a total of $66,513. Some dealers added a second sticker plus applicable taxes, which certainly tipped the price scales. However, this was more than made up for by advanced performance and top-notch build quality, creating one seriously capable sports car that shows well and absolutely blisters the road! Advertised 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds and 10.8 seconds to 100mph with a top speed of 180 mph. All C4, ZR-1's were special ordered...this one went to Purifoy Chevrolet Co. of Fort Lupton, CO. No convertible models or automatic transmission ZR-1s were offered, only coupes with a removable top. Powered by the ZR1 performance package that includes a 5.7L V8 engine producing 375hp/370lb-ft of torque. Standout features on this American Supercar consist of New Goodyear GSD3's (315/35/17 rear and 275/40/17 front), 17x11 Aluminum Rear Wheels and 17x9.5 Front Wheels, Heavy Duty Braking System, Selective Ride and Handling Package, Adjustable Sport Seats, 6-Way Power Driver's Seat, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Delco Bose Gold Stereo Series Music System with CD and Cassette Player, Solar Glass, and Factory Optional Dual Removable Roof Panels. Chevrolet went above and beyond what any car enthusiast at the time believed they could. Enter the "Slayer" Corvette ZR-1. First shown off at the Geneva auto show in 1989, for the 1990 model year, Chevrolet wasted no time in letting the world know it meant business. The engineers at Chevrolet set out to create a supercar killer and succeeded. The ZR-1 seems to be flawless in its design, performance, and sustainability. The rarity of these machines only makes it that much more desirable, so don't miss out on this one!
