Used 2009 Smart Fortwo

Oh my goodness gracious. This is the first non-EV Smart Fortwo we've had, and it's been a friggin riot to go through. Automated manual transmission. So it's an automatic, but it's got a clutch that goes in and out of the engine like a plunger. We just replaced that. I'm guessing that's why the original owner decided to part with it. Oh, it's a 1-owner no-accident car BTW. But the part was a few hundred bucks and it gave Derek the perfect excuse to explore. It has paddle shifters, and Ben has decided it's the better way to drive it. It lurches just like a manual transmission and you get that odd satisfaction of it shifting as though there's a tiny person, maybe a little tiny team of tiny people, in that little 1.0 liter 3-cylinder engine right behind your seat. "He wants to shift now! Give it all you've got, crew!" I could write a whole story about them right now, but back to the important stuff. It's got a brand new power convertible fabric top that works flawlessly and is especially fun to open in the rain, because the terrible aerodynamics of the car just shoots the rain back into the sky if you're going over 40mph. Picture monsoon on Aviation, because that's what my wife and I did yesterday. Good rubber, good brakes, tracks and stops later straight despite the short wheelbase. And folks, going 75 on the highway is drama free. As long as you don't look up at the semi passing you. It handles remarkably well. I could go on and on, but I'll just leave you with this. Do you know why Smart is a car brand? Because in 1996, Mercedes decided to collaborate with SwatchWatch on a little tiny urban commuter. So fun. We can't charge retail for fun. Someone who focuses a little too much on fun and not enough on making money deserves something this fun, so priced accordingly.
