The rear cargo space (especially behind the third row) is limited, as is typical, but folding down rear seats frees up a lot of usable room. On safety and utility, the Yukon SLE gives you a strong base. Backup camera, parking sensors (in many cases), stability/traction controls, and various driver aids when optionally equipped give peace of mind. Towing capacity is strong when properly equipped; payload is generous. If you expect heavy loads, trailers, or frequent family hauling, the Yukon SLE delivers more than many smaller SUVs. The downsides are the usual for big SUVs: fuel and maintenance costs are higher, maneuverability in tight city spots can be challenging, and acceleration, while strong for its size, is never going to feel nimble. Also, base trim means fewer luxury touches—no premium upholstery, fewer high-end trim finishes, more basic seats—so if you want more comfort or gloss you’ll have to step up or add options. Overall, the 2016 GMC Yukon SLE is a compelling choice if you need size, towing, and utility more than sport or luxury. For buyers who drive long distances, often carry people or cargo, or need towing capacity, it’s a strong pick. It won’t be the most refined SUV in that segment, but it accomplishes reliably what so many in this class must.
