The body style of the SLC 300 is more aggressive (attractive) than the larger SLC 500 series. The SLC has several layers of quality paint, and take care of it and the luster will last several years with little degradation. If you can find such a car with low mileage and get it MB certified, that is the sensible way to go. I highly recommend some relatively low cost pre maintenance along with a tire and wheel warranty (good for the period for which you financed it - even if you pay it off early...also, no deductible and just replacing one wheel will more than pay for the warranty itself), by doing so, you literally ensure you will have no out of pocket expenses for several years. Quite often, I delay arriving home, simply because I want to cruise a little (actually a lot!) longer in my SLC with my classic rock and pop music serenading me. One last thought - if (when) you decide to get a wind deflector, consider getting a more permanent plexiglass wind deflector that you can purchase with the MB logo (or AMG) that lights up in several colors to add a distinct flair.
