The 2017 Armada Platinum is the top-end version of Nissan's full-size Armada SUV. It blends strong towing and performance capability with upscale comfort and lots of tech, aiming to be a luxury-capable family hauler without going full luxury-brand price. Powertrain: 5.6liter V8 (Nissan's Endurance engine) with updated direct injection and VVEL (variable valve event & lift). Power/Torque: ~390 horsepower and 394 lbft of torque. Transmission: 7speed automatic. Rearwheel drive standard, fourwheel drive (4WD) available. Towing: Up to 8,500 lbs when properly equipped. Fuel Economy: Around 1314 mpg city / 1819 mpg highway depending on drive (4WD hurts a bit). Combined average in the ~15 mpg range. Ride & Handling: The ride is plush, especially for such a large, heavy SUV. Quiet cabin. However, due to its size and weight, body roll is noticeable in more aggressive cornering, and it doesn't handle as sharply as some competitors.
