The McLaren 570S marked a turning point for the brand — a true daily-drivable supercar that offered superlative performance without sacrificing usability. Built on the same carbon fiber Monocell II chassis as McLaren’s higher-tier cars, the 570S weighs just over 3,200 lbs and delivers 562 hp from its twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8. It was developed not only to rival Ferrari and Lamborghini on track, but to outperform them in the real world with better visibility, ride quality, and cabin usability. From launch, the 570S stood out for combining exotic mid-engine dynamics with a cohesive, livable package. Its 7-speed dual-clutch transmission is fast and intuitive, and the steering — hydraulic, not electric — offers a level of feel long absent from most modern supercars. Performance figures remain relevant today: 0–60 mph in 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 204 mph, all with a level of driver involvement that helped reestablish McLaren as a legitimate road car manufacturer. With production of the Sports Series now concluded, the 570S has carved out a unique space: more analog and driver-focused than the Artura that replaced it, yet more usable and less punishing than any equivalent exotic from the same era.
