But after only six months the battery just went dead. This car is very nice looking and it's comfortable. After reading a lot of the other reviews on here with complaints about the battery, makes me realize, that this is a common issue. So, therefore it's not a reliable car. Especially if I don't know from one day to the next if my car is going to crank. That was my reason for getting a brand new car so that I could have reliable transportation. Seems like Toyota should address the issue. The service man at the dealer said that maybe something was left on or a door was left ajar. I didn't leave anything on or open. And that everything was fine. And that they charged up the battery instead of replacing it. After reading the comments on here I think what he said was a bunch of hogwash. I think it's just best for me to trade this in for something else. I thought that Toyota was supposed to be top of the line but from this experience I don't think so! On-going dead battery issue By Brad T on Friday, December 04, 2020 Bought the 2020 Camry SE for my wife. Beautiful engineering and styling BUT there is a big on-going and unresolved issue with the dead battery. We've had this car less than 6 months, very little mileage and the battery has gone dead twice. Each time it was taken to the dealer and both times they claim they do not know the cause. More than likely it is not the battery nor the charging system -- more than likely it's an electronic system that continues to draw substantial power after the vehicle is off. I have looked through the blogs and found many other people have complained about the same issue and all seem to be unresolved. Very frustrating. You can drive it from graduation to retirement By CJPaschal on Sunday, February 18, 2024 I have owned my Camry since May of 2019, over the past 97,500 miles, I have never been let down by this car. Through snowstorms, thunderstorms, high winds, and a sandstorm (northern Arizona on a roadtrip, quite interesting), and countless other road hazards, this car has stood strong. Yes, it has its shortcomings- mainly that it seems to wait 1-3 business days to shift while going up any type of incline and sometimes it gets confused like an old dog when deciding what gear it wants to go to, it outpaced (and outsold!) the competition it was up against. The entire package compared against the cars it was being sold with at the time (Accord, Altima, Sonata, Optima, Fusion, Mazda6, Passat, Legacy, Malibu) all were solid options, but the Camry stuck out for a few reasons, and still does so today. 1. Resale value: If you take care of this car, it will take care of you and repay you for good ownership when you decide to go get something new. 2. Reliability: In just under 100,000 miles I can tell you everything that has been worked on this car- That's it. The car is still on the original battery and has always started. There are many cars that you could compare it to/pit it against, and it does have its quirks. The Adaptive cruise control is like a mom of a 16 year old driving, sometimes the CarPlay decides it doesn't want to play my Depeche Mode playlist (that's fair on its part), Lane Centering is very hands-off, to the point its like a dad videoing his kid about to fall down- supportive, but from a distance. In contrast to everything it might seem to have "wrong" with it, you could look at every car in its class and make similar conclusions. I know this review will probably get lost in the many, many others, but I can guarantee you this: Buy a new Camry for your High School graduate (or co-sign a loan and make them make the payments like my parents did) and I can guarantee that the car has a solid chance of making it to their retirement party 42 years later. If you take care of this car, it will take care of you. Regular maintenance, calm driving, and good gas will take you well over the 300,000 mile mark. Soon, I will parting with my Camry, who has gained the name Cher, and selling her to my younger brother who just recently turned 16. It is the only car he is comfortable driving in our family (F-150, Highlander, and Grand Cherokee) as it is the "perfect size for him" and he doesn't have to worry about "hurting" it. As a parting word, I'll sum up owning a Camry to a few words: you can always find flashier, faster, fancier things, but nothing welcomes you back quite like a Camry. It is reliable, comfortable, economical, and affordable. You might love champagne and caviar, but nothing fills you quite like Grandma's Chicken soup.
