In the early 1960s, the British manufacturer Aston Martin & the design house Zagato, founded in Italy in 1919, collaborated to challenge the Ferrari 250 GTO on the racetracks of Europe. For this ambitious goal, they built a lighter & more aerodynamic version of the DB4 GT Zagato, which raced at Le Mans in 1961 & went down in history as some of the most beautifully designed cars of all time. Many decades later, the two icons celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Italian design house in 2019 with a mixture of legendary history and its modern interpretation. As part of the DBZ Centenary Collection, Aston Martin & Zagato again teamed up to create the DBS GT Zagato. The masterpiece, redesigned by Zagato, is based on Aston Martin's powerful DBS Superleggera & delivers an incredible 760hp from its 5.2-liter Twin-Turbo V12. Inspired by the voluptuous shapes that previously dressed the original DB4 GT Zagato, Aston Martin & Zagato's designers have worked hard to conjure a similarly evocative design language. This fresh interpretation delivers a clean & sculptural form that flows from the top of the windshield to the rear of the car. At the rear, a wide carbon strip unites the round rear lights, which are fitted with protruding spikes. In the interior, Aston Martin relies on a mixture of classic craftsmanship & modern production techniques. Parts of the dashboard are 3D-printed, while the high quality semi-aniline leather is applied by hand. The stylish combination of elegance, exclusivity, comfort & limitless performance make the Aston Martin DBS GT Zagato the ultimate GT vehicle of modern times.
