You don't need to work that engine hard to get moving highway merges, towing, uphill grades it has reserve power. Paired with a 10speed automatic transmission, shifts are generally smooth, though the size and mass of this SUV do remind you you've got something substantial beneath you whenever you change speed. Depending on whether your XLT is rear wheel drive or equipped with four wheel drive, the feel changes a bit. With RWD, there's a lighter feel in normal conditions. Add 4WD, especially in rough weather or off pavement, and it adds traction, weight, and a sense of sturdiness. Maneuvering it in tight parking lots takes planning the turning circle isn't small, and backing up with the third row, or hauling anything large, challenges visibility. In terms of towing, this XLT can pull its weight. With the right equipment, you'll be comfortably towing boats, trailers, or whatever you need. Combined with the EcoBoost torque, it gives you both pulling power and stability when loaded down. What you notice less immediately but appreciate over time is the space. Whether front row or back row, there's room. Legroom, headroom they're generous. If you're doing road trips or hauling passengers often, that spacious interior pays off. Cargo space with the rear seats up is workable, and folds flat for major storage needs.
