The 2025 Honda Pilot Trail Sport is the version of the Pilot that dares to leave the pavement without sacrificing daily comfort. Its built for those who want three row family practicality but don't want to stop at just visibility and tech they want capability, confidence, and a little adventure sewn into the fabric. Under the hood, there's a 3.5liter V6 engine producing 285 horsepower and 262 lb/feet of torque. That power is paired with Hondas 10speed automatic transmission and the iVTM4 all wheel drive system as standard in the TrailSport. But power is only part of the story. What makes TrailSport stand out are the offroad friendly upgrades: a suspension tuned for tougher roads, all terrain tires, a boost in ground clearance (nearly an inch more than lesser trims), a steel skid plate protecting the underbody, and an array of drive modes (Trail, Sand, Snow, Tow, etc.) so you can tailor how it responds depending on the terrain. There's even a TrailWatch camera system that shows live views of what's under or around the SUV when in Trail mode helping with visibility over rough ground, obstacles, or tight passages. Despite its trail tuned credentials, the Trail Sport is still a family vehicle first. It seats seven people in fact, it drops to seven instead of eight by using second row captains chairs. Cabin features are built for durability: contrast orange stitching, all season floor mats, easy to clean surfaces, heated steering wheel, and other creature comforts that lean toward rugged utility without feeling cheap. Cargo space is generous when you need it: fold down the second or third rows, and the Pilot opens up plenty of room for gear. The chassis is long and stable; with a wheelbase over 113 inches, the Pilot feels planted. On pavement, the TrailSport manages surprisingly well. The ride is firm that's the tradeoff when you stiffen up suspension and give a vehicle off road capabilities. Noise levels are higher than a luxury crossover, especially over rough or unpaved roads. Fuel economy takes a hit too: about 18 mpg city / 23 mpg highway / ~20 mpg combined for the TrailSport. Off the pavement or heading into less smooth territory, the TrailSport shows its colors: the extra clearance, the skid plates, the AWD system, and the live camera feedback all work together to boost confidence. Steep grades or rocky tracks aren't daunting, and the design choices are practical for what they're built for.
